Mr. Jiles Willie Walters, 70, was born in Franklin County, N.C., on August 23, 1953, to the late Jiles Walters and Dazell Stallings Walters. He departed this life on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at his residence.

Jiles was affectionately known as “J.W.” by his family and friends. He graduated from Gethsemane High School in Bunn, N.C., and the Pine Knot Job Corps Civilian Conservation Center in Pine Knot, Ky. Prior to his retirement he was employed as an airport and highway engineer with Curtain Construction. He was married to Jackline Rinehardt Walters, his wife, friend, companion, and partner for 31 years. J.W. was a faithful member of Gethsemane Baptist Church in Bunn, N.C.

In addition to parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Randolph Walters; two sisters, Elizabeth Knight, and Virginia Sloan;

He leaves to cherish the memory of his life his wife, Jackline Rinehardt Walters; one son, Lionel Rinehardt; one daughter, Jiresa Walters; one very special son, Cosmo; grandchildren, Raheem Rinehardt of Charlotte, and Issaiah Rinehardt of Alabama, Diamond Stafford and Cleo Miller of Salisbury; brothers, Wardell (Mary) Stalling, and Albert Walters, both of Bunn, Jeffery (Sylvenia) Walters of Raeford, Gregory Walters of Durham, and James Burrell of Louisburg; sisters, Gwendolyn Nichols, Janette Hodges, and Melissa Singletary, all of Bunn, Ruth (Lloyd) Rome of Alta Vista, Va., and Cynthia Wilder of Spring Hope; brother-in-law, Alton Rinehardt; a sister-in-law, Joann Rhinehardt; and a special friend, Tand Turner; very special friends, Susan Rayway, Wapas Khalid, Charles Jones, David Hudson, Clifford Canada, Kristen Douglas, Jessica Stanfield, Sarah Wagas, Zarah Wagas, and Jason Brown; a host of other grandchildren, nieces and nephews, including Tonya Rhinehardt, cousins, other relatives, church family, and friends.

Celebration of Life services will be held on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at 3 p.m. at Mt. Pleasant AME Zion Church. Reverend Timothy Bates will be officiating the services. Visitation will be from 2 to 3 p.m. at the church and burial will follow in the Belmont Cemetery.
