Joan Anderle June, 90, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away on Thursday, January 18, 2024.

She was born December 10, 1933, in New York City to the late Louise Tiffinger Stratton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard June; siblings, Sophia Gorman and Kit, Amanda and Kim Stratton.

Joan was a teacher and librarian for many years. She received her college degrees from William Patterson University in Wayne, N.J. She also later obtained her California Realtor’s license. Joan enjoyed crossword puzzles, politics, crocheting, and her many pets — the last being a little dog named Honey. She was a first-place winner for a life story she wrote for a contest held by the Southern California Genealogical Society. She was also an accomplished pianist and was able to play intricate Classical pieces such as from Chopin and Tchaikovsky. Joan was the most caring and dedicated mother, and she loved her family unconditionally. She carried many jobs to support her family on her own.

Joan is survived by her children, Sharon, Bill, Brian Anderle and Grace Bastedo (Bruce); step-children, Greg and Robin June; half-sisters, Kelly Cohen and Christine Doane; grandchildren, Christopher, Jennifer, Benjamin, Daniel, Megan, Jonathan and Olivia; and one great-grandchild is on the way.

A Mass will be held on Thursday, January 25, at St. Therese Catholic Church in the Day Chapel at 12 noon, with Father Englebert officiating. Burial will be on the same day, January 25, following the Mass at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery, where Joan will be laid to rest.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, 4600 Park Road, Suite 250, Charlotte, NC 28209.
