Joanne Louise Christman, 70, passed away Sunday, February 18, 2023, at her Statesville, N.C., home with her loved ones by her side. Joanne was born January, 17, 1954 in Lehighton, Pennsylvania, to the late Herman and Lois Beer.

She was a graduate of Palmerton Area High School in 1971 and received her Master of Arts Degree from The University of South Carolina in 1994.

Joanne is survived by her partner, Larry Berger; her two children, Andrew and his wife Georgette of Charlotte, N.C., and Todd and his partner Ashley of Lancaster, S.C.; four grandchildren, Emery, Madelyn, Masin and Case; and her sister Lena and her husband James of Virginia Beach, Va.

Joanne was a devoted Christian who lived life to the fullest by traveling all over the world, often for mission trips. She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Statesville. She touched many lives through her years in the medical field and as a teacher. Her hobbies included quilting, knitting, sewing and gardening. Joanne loved her family, friends, and the home she recently built with Larry.

A Visitation for Joanne will be held Saturday, February 24, 2024, from 10 until 11 a.m. A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church, 801 Henkel Road, Statesville, N.C. A luncheon will follow the service, and all are encouraged to bring a covered dish.
