Larry Wayne Taylor, 77, of Statesville, N.C., went to be with his Heavenly Father on Thursday, January 11, 2024, with family lovingly by his side.

Larry was born on March 29, 1946, in Iredell County to the late William “Dub” Charles Taylor and Lucille Campbell Greer.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of fifty-six years, Beatrice Byers Taylor; daughter, Wendy Taylor-Gregory, and her husband Douglas; and his grandson, the light of his life, Taylor Wayne Gregory.

In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his brothers, Bobby Ray Campbell and Gerald Willam Taylor. Larry is further survived by his sister, Faye Taylor Todd, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Larry attended New Bethany Baptist Church. He loved God, the church and his family and friends. He was dedicated to the Lord and his family. From his youth to retirement, he worked as an upholsterer. When not working and after his retirement, he devoted his time to teaching his beloved grandson important life lessons, as well as how to work with his hands, to rebuild motors, and how to have fun and enjoy life. He was a kind, hard-working man with a strong work ethic and a good sense of humor. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and father-in-law who always put God and his family first. He will be missed dearly.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at New Bethany Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery, Rev. Bill Mason will be officiating. The family will visit with family and friends prior to the service from 1 to 2 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to those organizations that were close to Larry’s heart, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to Samaritan’s Purse.
