Marion Lavonne McCollum McCrary, 86, of Statesville, N.C., died Sunday, April 14, 2024, at her home following a lengthy illness.

She was born in Yadkin County on November 12, 1937, to the late Paul McCollum and Mamie Wooten McCollum. She was preceded in death in 2022 by her beloved husband, John Franklin McCrary Sr.

Lavonne was a quiet lady but had a love for people. She was known by many for her card ministry. She encouraged people by sending cards and she shared her faith and love for Jesus through this. Lavonne loved her church, and even when her memory was fading, she always remembered that she wanted to attend church. She enjoyed going for rides in the car and loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Those left to cherish her memory include two sons, Franklin McCrary (Bobbi) and Tim McCrary; a daughter, Kim Heafner (Jon); granddaughters, Heather Fulbright, Katelynn McCrary, and Christina McCrary; step-granddaughters, Kayla and Laura Heafner, and Amanda Carina; grandsons, Cody Clanton (Nicole), Lance Clanton, and Austin Windbarger; step-grandson, Eric Pope (Caroline); step-grandson, Ryan Carina; great-grandchildren, Audrey Clanton, Axel Clanton, Carissa Fulbright, Addie, Harlan and Liberty; step-greatgrandchildren, Nathaniel Roberts, Liam Heafner, Ella Pope, Caleb Pope, Carson Pope, McKenzie Pope and Silas Carina; two brothers, JW McCollum and Mickey McCollum (Sherry); and three sisters, Dorothy Taylor, Shelby Parker and Diane Jenkins (Gibby).

Funeral Services will be held Sunday, April 21, 2024, at the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel at 3 p.m. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. The family will visit with friends from 2 to 3 p.m. prior to the service.
