Richard Thomas Mazewski, 78, passed away peacefully on January 13, 2024, after a brief illness, at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center in Mooresville, N.C. He was born on November 12, 1945, in New Jersey to John and Mary Harapas Mazewski.

Known for his sarcastic wit and also for his genuine love for others, Rich was a beloved figure in his community. He found satisfaction in helping others in any way he could, and his willingness to help was unwavering.

Outside of work, Rich had a wide range of interests and passions. He was an avid fan of all auto racing, and he rode motorcycles for 50 years, always finding excitement in the speed and adrenaline. When he wasn’t enjoying the thrill of racing, Rich found solace in reading, TV/movies and music. He loved playing and watching sports, and he passionately supported the New York Yankees and New York Giants. Also, he loved basketball and slow pitch softball. However, his greatest joy came from watching his son, Max, grow up into the man he is today.

Rich will be fondly remembered for his sense of humor, confidence and his boundless love for his wife Kathy, and son, Max. His legacy will live on through the memories and love he shared with those around him.

He is survived by his beloved wife Kathleen “Kathy” Mazewski; their son, Max Mazewski; his brother, Raymond Mazewski (Jean); and his nephews Mark, Michael, and Craig Mazewski and their families.
