Shirley Ann Gillespie, 85, of Statesville, N.C., passed away on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at Iredell Memorial Hospital.

Shirley was born on September 18, 1938, to the late James W. and Pauline L Rorrer in Pageton, W.Va. She was a graduate of Pocahontas High School in Virginia. She was married to the late Charles “Wayne” Gillespie for 56 years.

Shirley is survived by her children, Gary Gillespie (Linda), Dianna Melvin (Rick), Mark Gillespie (Patty), and Paul Gillespie (Sonja); and brother, James W. Rorrer Jr. (Betty). Also surviving are 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, and her sisters, Louise Rorrer, and Norma Tabor.

Shirley was a member of Rose Chapel Methodist Church, 813 Turnersburg Highway in Statesville. Donations may be made to the church in her honor in lieu of flowers.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
