Stacey Gregg “Tay” Harris was born in Statesville on April 20, 1975, to Lavida Byers Harris and the late Silas Harris. He entered into eternal life unexpectedly on Sunday, March, 10 2024.

Stacey graduated from South Iredell High School in 1993, where he was a member of the Viking Band. He was a jack of all trades, and his father often said he could sell ice to an Eskimo. Last year, he started working with the throwers on South Iredell High School’s track team and was looking forward to working with them again this year. He was a member of First Greater Living Missionary Baptist Church, where he played the drums and often worked with the youth to help clean up yards for the elderly members. He loved God, the Church, his Family, and the community.

He was preceded in death by his father, Silas Harris; five uncles, William Perry Lackey, Carl Brown, Robert “Bobby” Griffin, Richard Johnson, and Charles Carrouthers; both grandmothers, Rose Harris and Beulah Brown; two aunts, Flora Griffin and Clara Watts; and his beloved mother-in-law, Margie Byers.
