Stephen Duncan Bradley of Mooresville, N.C., passed away peacefully on May 11, 2024.

He was born in 1941 in Grosse Pointe, Mich., to the late Stephen Duncan Bradley and Virginia Martz Bradley. Steve graduated from Villanova University in 1963 with a degree in mechanical engineering. After working in Detroit as an engineer for 10 years, his employer moved him with his family to Blacksburg, Va., where he designed, built and managed a fabricating plant. After a few career moves, he landed in Cornelius, N.C., with his family to become engineering manager for Reeves Brothers until retirement. His hobbies included ice boating, spelunking, sailing, boating, jet skiing, reading and poker. His great love was taking his grandchildren out on the jet ski and driving at a high rate of speed! Upon retirement, he became a sustaining member of the Southenders, a retired men’s group, and enjoyed many activities with them. He was active in Habitat for Humanity, the Christian Mission, and the Backpack Food Program.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Elizabeth “Betty” Miller Bradley; children, Stephen Duncan Bradley Jr (Jill), Anne Atkins (Joe), and Elizabeth “Lisa” Risinger (Robert); grandchildren, Duncan Bradley, Anne Catherine Bradley, Emily Atkins, Rosie Atkins, David Atkins, Elizabeth Simmons (Paul), Kasey Risinger, and Matthew Stiles; and great grandchildren, Miller Atkins, and Natalia and Nadia Simmons. In addition, he is survived by his sister, Mary Lee (Gary) of Bothwell, Wash.

The family will receive friends on Friday, May 17, from 10 to 11 a.m. with a service following at 11 a.m. at St. Therese Catholic Church in Mooresville.
