Terry Edney Hopper, 68, of Olin, N.C., passed away on Thursday, November 28, 2024, at the Gordon Hospice House in Statesville, N.C., surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on October 15, 1956, in Glendale, Calif., to the late Edney Hopper Jr. and June Hopper Gregory. Mr. Hopper was raised in South Carolina, where he graduated in 1974 from Union High School in Union, S.C. Mr. Hopper was a veteran serving proudly in the U.S. Navy. He moved to Lake Norman in 1982 to work for MacLean-Fogg. Mr. Hopper oversaw the construction of the plant in Mooresville and retired in 2019 as an engineering manager. He was a man of faith and a very proud man who never asked anyone for help. Mr. Hopper was the former president of the Lake Norman Shag Club and oversaw one of the largest events they had. He enjoyed the beach, shag music, woodworking, and could work on anything. He loved his family and spending time with them, especially his grandsons.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Bruce Hopper.

He is survived by his wife of 49½ years, Carolyn Miller Hopper; daughters, Christi Barkley (Scott) and Katie Miller (Chris); grandsons, Tyler Barkley (Hailey), Cole Barkley, Chase Kerley (Georgia), Dru Kerley, and Kyle Kerley; brothers, Tim Hopper (Kim) and Ken Hopper (Shelia); and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service with military honors will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, December 1, at the Chapel of Cavin-Cook Funeral Home with Rev. Dan Freeman officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.
