Mrs. Tressie Louise Starrette, 94, of Statesville, N.C., died May 4, 2024, at the Gordon Hospice House. Born in Iredell County on August 26, 1929, she was a daughter of the late Dwight Bowles and Lois Stevenson Bowles.

She was a store manager for Starrette’s Office Supply and a member of Wesley Memorial Methodist Church. She was also in the U.M.W. at the church, involved in the PTA during Bryan’s school years and enjoyed traveling with Allen and Bryan to almost every state in the country. She and her husband and entire family were pillars of the community.

A chapter of life has ended for Tressie. She and her husband Allen were married for 67 years. Their son Bryan was an only child and grateful for two amazing parents. They will be missed by many in this community that they gave so much to and by their loving son. The legacy they left will not be forgotten.

Thank you to Hospice and Palliative Care of Iredell County for making the transition so peaceful. Also thank you to Jurney’s Assisted Living for taking care of her for the last few years.

In addition to her son, Bryan (Gina), she is survived by a sister, Gladys Austin, and grandchildren, Sarah Kathryn Starrette Tucker (Dustin) and Emily Bryan Starrette McNamara (Sean).

Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday at Iredell Memorial Gardens with Dr. Steve Shoemaker officiating. The family will greet friends following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Wesley Memorial Methodist Church, 825 Wesley Drive, Statesville, NC 28677.
