Willie “Will” Frank Blocker, 86, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away on Monday, May 13, 2024, at the S. Mitchell Mack Hospice House in Mooresville.

He was born on December 1, 1937, in Decatur County, Ga., to the late Franklin and Lucille Griffin Blocker. Will was a proud veteran who served in the U.S. Marines and later became a Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms Agent, retiring at the young age of 50. He cherished his time outdoors, especially indulging in woodworking, gardening, fishing, and hunting, but his greatest joy came from being surrounded by his beloved family. He instilled in his children a love of the water. They have fond memories of camping, boating, fishing and hunting. He adored his grandchildren and never missed a practice, game, or recital. Will was a devoted Atlanta Braves fan and never missed a game. His family and friends will forever remember him for his infectious laugh, diligence, stories and jokes.

In addition to his parents, Will was preceded in death by his sisters, Sarah, Louise, Norene, and Marti; as well as his cousin, Eddie Blocker.

He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Loretta Thornton Blocker, and their children, Phil Blocker (Julie), Robin Nanney (Jeff), Kelly Nygren (Don), and Bart Blocker (Lauren). He is also survived by his grandchildren, Mallory Pharr (Matt), Thornton Blocker, Kristin Nanney, Hunter Nanney (Liz), Sarah Nygren, Nathan Nygren, Rylan Nygren, Owen Heckmann, and Ben Heckmann, along with two great-grandchildren, Brawley Nanney and John Hunter Nanney, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Friday, June 7, from 6 to 7 p.m. with a service following at 7 p.m. at the Heritage House of Cavin-Cook Funeral Home, officiated by Rev. Dr. Andrea Smith.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to S. Mitchell Mack Hospice House, 1325 Mecklenburg Highway, Mooresville, NC 28115. Will’s fondness for pistols, cards, checkers, and dice will be remembered by all who knew him.
