Betty Jean Myers Thomas, 79, of Statesville, N.C., entered eternal rest November 1, 2025, after a brief stay at the Gordon Hospice House.

Born and raised in Statesville to the late Henry Richard Myers and Mary Elizabeth Moorefield Myers, Betty Jean graduated from Cool Springs High School, where she received the senior superlative for “Most Cutest Girl” in her class. She later continued her education at Mitchell Community College.

Growing up, Betty Jean attended Cochran Street Baptist Church in Statesville and continued in her Baptist faith throughout her life, often reading her Bible daily. Betty Jean’s greatest joy and purpose in life was her family. She devoted herself wholeheartedly, giving everything she had to raise her children. Her love for them was evident in countless ways through her steady support, her daily care, and the traditions she built around their lives. She always had a special touch for making the most beautiful cakes crafted with love for her family’s birthdays and holidays.

For Betty Jean, her pets were family, and she loved each one dearly.

Left to survive her memory are her three children, sons Brian Thomas (Mary) and Bradley Thomas (Elizabeth) and beloved daughter Barbara Thomas; grandchildren Badin Thomas (Elizabeth), Macy Thomas, Andrew Thomas, Nicholas Thomas and Daniel Thomas; and great grandchild Carson Thomas. Her sister, Rena Plyler (Wayne) also survives.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 8, from 12 until 1 p.m. at Troutman Funeral Home. Service will be at 1 p.m. Burial to follow at Iredell Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests for memorials be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of Iredell County, 2341 Simonton Drive, Statesville, NC 28625.

Troutman Funeral Home is serving the family.
