Forest Loyd “Mitch” Mitchell, 90, of Statesville, N.C., passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 26, 2025, at the Gordon Hospice House.

Mitch was born January 16, 1935, in Iredell County to the late George Mitchell and Hester Loyd Mitchell. He was a member of Covenant ARP Church and the owner of Eastwood Exxon for 40 years. He was a generous, warm-hearted man with a dry sense of humor. He dearly loved his family, and he enjoyed fishing, bird watching, baseball and traveling with his wife Millie.

In addition to his parents, Mitch was preceded in death by his sons, Joel Kent Mitchell and Forest Michael “Mike” Mitchell; and brothers, David Mitchell (Betty), Ernest Mitchell and Howard Mitchell.

Those left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 45 years, Mildred “Millie” Reitzel Mitchell; daughter, Michele M. Coleman (Todd); daughter-in-law, Chris Mitchell; stepchildren, Gary Beaver (Jane), Brett Beaver (Sheina) and Melanie B. Kirdasi (Mike); grandchildren, Neil Johnson (Jennifer), Trent Johnson (Whitney), Ayla Andrews (Alyssa), Will Andrews, Myles Coleman (Taylor), Michael Mitchell (Ashley), Matthew Mitchell and Jaymie B. Zanon; eight great-grandchildren; special family friends, Mark Mitchell and Barry Benfield; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at a later date.
