Margaret Walker “Maggie” Jones, 84, passed away peacefully at her home in Mooresville, N.C., on December 16, 2025.

Maggie was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Her husband of more than sixty years, Mr. Walter Jones, remarked throughout their marriage that he had been blessed with the opportunity to marry his best friend; he simply could not believe his good luck.

Maggie’s interests in life cast a wide net. Her particular love of cooking and homemaking — Maggie had a cooking segment on a local TV station in the 1960s — were well known. She was as much at ease with a skillet as she was a screwdriver, as comfortable planning a home dinner as she was overseeing a home renovation.

Maggie also had a surprisingly diverse taste in music. Genres meant nothing to her. She was only interested if a song was one you could dance to. And, if you could, she would; often times in the kitchen with her husband Walt.

Maggie’s greatest skill — and she had so many — may have been her ability to show love and kindness to anyone — family, friends, acquaintances, complete strangers — all while withholding judgment. Maggie knew what to say and when to say it. And, perhaps more importantly, she knew what not to say. Maggie was one of the world’s greatest listeners.

Maggie is survived by her husband, Walter; her son, Russell; her daughter, Lynn; and her grandchildren, Cameron, Michael, and Serah.
