Okie Keen Pettry, 88, of Statesville, N.C., passed away on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at the Gordon Hospice House in Statesville.

She was born on January 26, 1937, in Buchanan, Va., to the late Harvey and Julia Horn Keen. Mrs. Pettry was a member of Troutman Church of God, where she worked with the food bank. She loved to cook and go to yard sales, but mostly she loved to spend time with her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Vernon Pettry; children, Carlos Vandyke, Jesse Vandyke, Diana Crawford, and John David Vandyke; and five brothers and five sisters.

She is survived by her children, James Vandyke and wife Sandy, and Kathy Hayes and husband Rodney; daughter-in-law, Belinda Sue Vandyke; 10 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, one great great grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews; and honorary children, Belinda Sue Vandyke, Diana Holcomb, Barbara Woodall, Audry Crider, and Roger Crider.

A Memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 10, at Troutman Church of God with Rev. Connor Lambert officiating.
