Ada “Marie” Christie Martin, 86, of Statesville, N.C., passed away on Friday, May 8, 2026, at the Gordon Hospice House.

Marie was born on August 21, 1939, to the late Arthur James Christie and Cordie Irene Upright Christie.

She had a love for flowers and animals and was a faithful supporter of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Rita Pope (David); son, Ronnie Martin (Grace); granddaughters, Lisa Fleming (Kel) and Michelle Ladd; sisters, Martie Elmore (Jim) and Margie Foye; great-granddaughters, Albree Garris and Alydia West; and brother, Benny Sowers (Amy).

In addition to her parents, Marie was preceded in death by a daughter, Rachel Campbell; a son, Ray Martin; three brothers, Clyde Turner, George Christie, and Robert Christie; and two sisters, Margaret Speaks and Ethel Christie.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at Troutman Funeral Home with Rev. John Parks officiating. The family will visit with friends prior to the service from 1 until 2 p.m. Burial will follow at the old Shady Grove Cemetery.

The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to Marie’s friends at Kat’s Patch and Troutman Café, as well as her special friend, Jackie, from Truist Bank, for their kindness and friendship shown to Marie through the years.
