Mr. Anthony Bernard Gaines of Statesville, N.C., departed this life on Friday, May 15, 2026, at the age of 44, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, N.C.

Anthony was born on June 23, 1981, to Anthony Rucker and the late Lori Ann Gaines. He was also lovingly raised by his stepfather, Jimmy Moore. Anthony attended Statesville High School and was well known for his love of sports. He was a devoted fan of the Carolina Panthers and enjoyed watching basketball and football with family and friends.

Anthony will be remembered for his presence, his love for those close to him, and the memories he shared with family and friends throughout his life.

In addition to his mother, Lori Ann Gaines, Anthony was preceded in death by one brother, Kevin Friday, and one sister, Lori Gaines.

He leaves to cherish his memory his father, Anthony Rucker; his stepfather, Jimmy Moore; his girlfriend, Bertha Horne; four brothers, Jeff Gaines, William Friday, Edward Gaines, and Derrick Friday; and two sisters, Kia Rucker and Anary Bellamy; along with a host of other relatives and friends who will forever hold his memory close to their hearts.
