Gary Wayne Roseboro, 67, was born September 13, 1958, in Statesville, N.C., and passed away April 9, 2026. Gary will be remembered as a beloved, devoted, and proud man whose presence felt personal to everyone who truly knew him.

Gary graduated from West Iredell High School and carried those hometown roots with him throughout his life. To his siblings, he was considered the “BEST” brother—an honor that spoke to the steady love and loyalty he gave so naturally.

Gary served honorably in the United States Army, both stateside and overseas, including Oakland Army Base (Calif.), Ft. Jackson (S.C.), Hawaii, Germany, and Korea. He served as a Specialist 4th Class and worked as a Tactical Wire Operations Specialist, attending the Tactical Wire Operations Specialist School in 1978. His service was recognized with the Good Conduct Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, the Overseas Service Ribbon, and his Sharpshooter (Rifle) Badge. He was honorably discharged in 1984.

After his military service, Gary retired from CommScope, where he was responsible for building the technologies that are crucial for building the physical infrastructure that powers cellular networks, data centers, and cable television. It was work that mattered—quietly essential—and he took pride in being part of something bigger than himself.

Gary was married to Eloise for 15 years and was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, as well as a beloved son and brother. He loved being around kids, and his warmth made people feel at ease. He was the ultimate Miami Dolphins fan, loved being outdoors, loved to shop, loved to play dominoes, and loved to watch HGTV—simple joys that became even better because he enjoyed them with others.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charlie Lovit Roseboro; his mother, Mary Ethel Smith Roseboro; and his brother, Charles William Roseboro.

He is survived by his wife, Eloise Lyons Roseboro of Statesville, N.C.; his children, Gwayne Roseboro of Statesville, Hassan Lyons of Statesville, She-Ra Lyons of Statesville, Tiffany Lyons of Statesville, and Whitney Ray (Chad) of Winston-Salem; is brother, Ricky Roseboro Sr. (Sandra) of Statesville; and his sisters, Phyllis Smith, Carolyn Saddler, Kathy Wellman, Sherry Lilley, and Karen Tomlin (Vernon), all of Statesville. Eighteen grandchildren and his best friend, Bob Moose, are also left to cherish his memory.

A Receiving of Friends will be held at Christian Outreach of the Piedmont, 1424 Rickert Street in Statesville, on April 16, 2026, from 1 to 2 p.m. A Homegoing Service will follow, beginning at 2 p.m. with Bishop Aljamel Stephens officiating. Gary’s final resting place will be at Belmont Cemetery in Statesville. Military honors will be conducted at the graveside.

Pallbearers will be Shannon Roseboro, Antonio Linney Sr., Ricky Roseboro Jr., Chad Ray, Jaquan Lyons, Jimmy Lee Roseboro, Tristan Perrin, and Michael Perrin. Flower Girls will be Monique Linney, Marcella Roseboro, Candice Roseboro, Triavonna Flowers, Brittany Jackson, and Shannon Miller.
