Harold “Wayne” Dagenhart, 86, peacefully passed away on April 17, 2026, after a lengthy illness. Born December 23,1939, Wayne was a true family man and highly respected by his family and many friends he made through the years.

Wayne attended Statesville schools and was a truck driver for most of his life and retired from the City of Statesville. He was a true “country boy,” and In his younger years, growing up and working on his family farm, he loved horses and horseback riding, and he participated in many rodeos. He enjoyed being outside with nature, camping and working in his garden. He was always kind-hearted and willing to help anyone in need.

He was preceded in death by his father, Clyde S. Dagenhart; mother, Ollie Mae Stikeleather Dagenhart; sisters, Dorothy “Dot” Waugh, and Betty Josey; and brothers, Clyde Junior, Coleman, Ellis, and Billy “Tom.”

He is survived by his wife, Lourdis Arteaga, whom he married in 2023; daughters, Dina Dagenhart of Troutman; and Stacie Lowe of Gastonia, N.C.; sister, Kay Edwards of Troutman; granddaughter, Candace Horvath (Frank); grandsons, Zachary Little; and Jared and Riley Hearn; and great-grandchildren, Harper, Max, Delilah, and Elora.

Wayne was a member of Marvin Methodist Church in Stony Point, N.C., and a member of the Statesville Ruritan Club.

A Memorial and Celebration of Life service will be held Sunday, April 26, 2026, at 4 p.m. at Nicholson Funeral Home, 135 E. Front Street, Statesville, NC 28677.
