Howard Junior Stroud, 87, of Statesville, N.C., passed away peacefully at home April 16, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born on April 25, 1938, in Iredell County, N.C., he was the son of the late Mary Boger Stroud and Howard Stroud. He attended Harmony High School.

Howard was formerly employed with Current Sheet Metal, Statesville Roofing. In his later years, he worked with F&F Builders. He was respected by friends and colleagues for his strong work ethic, masterful skills, and reliability.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Imogene Blankenship Stroud; his son, Steven Howard Stroud; and his grandson, Joseph Parlier. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Clay Stroud, Lavette Stroud, Elizabeth “Lib” Stroud Moore, and James “Jimmy” Stroud.

Howard is survived by his daughters, Julie Parlier (Joel) and Juanita Stroud (Thomas). He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren who brought him great joy, Jayme Stroud Lee (Larry), Christopher Stroud, Lauren Stroud (Josh), Seth Parlier (Jerica), Anna Beth Parlier-Ahmad (Omar), and Luke Parlier (Emma); along with his great-grandchildren Cayden, Bryden, Dustyn, and Adelynn Stroud; Wyatt and Worth Parlier; Elena and Emilia Lee; Solomon Parlier-Ahmad; and James and Grace Parlier.

Howard will be remembered for his quick wit, gentle humor, and humble spirit. Above all, he will be remembered for the deep love he held for his family and the example of perseverance and quiet strength he set throughout his life. He faced life’s challenges with remarkable calm, never one to complain, even in difficult times.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the care providers who faithfully cared for Howard over the years. Their compassion, devotion, and unwavering kindness brought comfort, joy, dignity, and peace to his life. Their support will be remembered with sincere appreciation.

A celebration of Howard‘s life will be held at Grace Baptist Church, 719 Club Drive, Statesville, N.C., on Sunday, April 19, 2026, at 2 p.m.
