
Joyce Lafay Thompson Lipe, 89, was born December 4, 1936, and passed away May 11, 2026.
Joyce retired from Wayside School, where she served as the Cafeteria Manager. Through years of steady work and daily care for others, she brought a quiet dignity to her responsibilities and was respected for the dependable presence she offered to those around her.
Joyce was a member of Fern Hill Baptist Church in Troutman. Her faith and commitment to her church community reflected a life shaped by devotion, constancy, and sincere regard for others.
She was preceded in death by her father, John Lloyd Thompson; her mother, Rachel Louisa Kitchens Thompson; her husband, Henry Gray Lipe, who passed away on January 15, 2023; and her son, Rick L. Lipe.
Those who survive Joyce include her daughter, Rebecca Lee Lipe Wallace of Troutman, N.C.; her brothers, Melton Thompson and Steve Thompson of Georgia; her sister, Kay Dakota of Georgia; her sister-in-law, Freda Thompson of Louisiana; her granddaughter, Kimberly Morrow (Jeff); her grandson, Jeremy G. Wallace; and one great-granddaughter.
A Graveside Service will be held at Iredell Memorial Gardens in Statesville, N.C., on May 14, 2026, at 1 p.m.
