Joyce Shoemaker Estes, 82, of Hiddenite, N.C., passed away at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center after brief illness May 18, 2026. Joyce was born July 19, 1943, in Iredell County, N.C., to the late Absie Howard Shoemaker and Viola Mae Shoemaker.

Joyce was a member of Rocky Hill Baptist Church and worked in the textile industry. She loved gardening and her flowers. She enjoyed sewing, liked going to the beach, and she enjoyed a sweet treat.

Joyce is survived by her daughter, Donna Estes Loudermelk of Hiddenite; her brother, Johnnie Shoemaker of Love Valley; her three sisters, Faye Cumby of Statesville, Willene Johnson of Harmony, and Karen Johnson of Statesville; her two grandchildren, Jody Combs (Jennifer) and Courtney Sharpe; and her great-grandchild Dylan Combs (Abi).

Funeral services will be conducted at Rocky Hill Baptist Church on Thursday, May 21, 2026, at 3 p.m. Pastor Daniel Melton will be officiating. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow the service at Rocky Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
