Mary Elizabeth Mix Hailey, 87, was born in Iredell County, N.C., to the late William Mix and Mary Phifer Mix on April 16, 1939. She was married to Louis Edward Hailey, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Frank Mix. Mary entered into eternal life on Friday, April 24, 2026, at Autumn Care of Statesville, N.C.

She was a member of Chestnut Grove Baptist Church. Mary attended Unity High School, and she worked as a presser at a dry cleaners. She will truly be missed.

She leaves to cherish the memories of her life, a host of cousins, including the Phifer family.

A Life of Celebration will be held on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at Chestnut Grove Baptist Church. Visitation with the family will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 12 noon. Reverend Dale Gibson will deliver the eulogy, and the burial will follow in the Belmont Cemetery.
