Patricia Celina DesJardins, a radiant spirit known for her warmth and vibrancy, passed away peacefully on April 17, 2026. Born on November 21, 1940, in Hammond, Ind., to Alfred and Anne DesJardins, she carried with her a love for life that inspired all who knew her.
Patricia spent her early years in Indiana and Illinois before finding her home in sunny Florida, where she built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. She embraced her roles as a mother, friend, and companion with a heart full of devotion.
Patricia is preceded in death by her beloved parents, Alfred and Anne DesJardins, and her partner, Walter Edward Harris. She is survived by her son, Jeffrey Dettlo; her twins, Kent Dettlo and Kimberly Norris (Dettlo); her daughter, Kelly Harris-Owens, and son-in-law, Larry Owens; as well as Robert Swaskee, who was like a son to her. She will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, Brittany Walker (Norris) and her husband Ross; Emily Dettlo; Matthew and Cassidy Dettlo; and Devin, Riley, and Ariah Owens.
Patricia’s exuberance for life was evident in her many experiences, notably her time as a Playboy Bunny, affectionately known as Bunny Pat, at Hugh Hefner’s original Playboy Club in Chicago. Those fortunate enough to know her are sure to remember her beautiful smile, infectious laughter, and that famous wave that could light up a room and bring joy to anyone receiving it.
Her passions included leisurely afternoons watching her favorite soap operas, excitedly following red carpet events before the Oscars, and binge-watching her all-time favorite show, “Friends.” An avid football fan, she adored watching Cam Newton take the field. Patricia also cherished the tranquility of the outdoors, where the gentle breeze brought her peace and comfort.
A lover of all creatures, Patricia had a special bond with her beloved dogs — Domino, Mariah, Scooter, Abe, and Bobo — who provided companionship and joy throughout her life. Her kindness and generous spirit touched the hearts of many; she lived to uplift others and ensured her children felt loved and cared for despite life’s ups and downs.
Her celebration of life will be announced in the days to come, where friends and family will gather to honor the beautiful legacy she leaves behind. Patricia’s strength, spirit, and love will be forever remembered by those who had the privilege of knowing her. As we gather to reminisce about the joy she brought into our lives, we hold tightly to the memories and the love she so freely gave.
