Patricia “Pat” Freeze Shepherd, 88, of Statesville, N.C., passed away peacefully surrounded by care and love after a decline in health on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at The Greens at Maple Leaf.

She was born on November 17, 1937, in Cabarrus County, N.C.

Pat lived a full and faithful life centered around family, friendships, and her church community. Many years were devoted to office and administration work throughout her career. She was a long-time and devoted member of Providence Church, where she worshipped faithfully beginning in 1977. Pat’s church family meant so much to her and she joyfully served on numerous committees over the years. She especially loved singing in the choir and continued to do so until recent years, when her health no longer allowed it.

Pat was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmie Leon Shepherd, in 2008; her parents, Lois Lumsden Avant and Charles Earl Freeze; and sibling, Jane Susan Avant. Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Kelli Keever; son-in-law, John Keever; and grandchildren, Meredith Keever and Ryan Keever.

A service to celebrate her life will be held at Providence Church on Friday, May 22, at 2 p.m. with visitation one hour prior, with Rev. David Bradley officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Providence Church, 1273 Old Mocksville Road, Statesville, NC 28625.
