Rebecca “Becky” Rummage Kendrick, 85, of Mooresville, N.C., went to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 14, 2026, at The Greens at Maple Leaf in Statesville.

She was born on November 20, 1940, in Rowan County, N.C., to the late Joseph Rummage and Edna London Rummage. Becky was born and raised on a farm in Mooresville.

Becky graduated from Mooresville High School in 1959 and was a lifelong member of Rockwell Baptist Church in Mooresville. She loved attending church and worshiping the Lord.

She retired from Nationwide Insurance after more than 25 years of service. Following her retirement, she attended Mercy School of Nursing, where she proudly served as a House Mother. Becky was also a proud military mother and supported her son throughout his 26 years of service.

Becky loved bowling and playing bingo. She enjoyed trips to the beach, watching the sunrise and sunset, and visiting waterfalls and the mountains during the fall when the leaves changed colors. She was a huge sports fan, especially baseball, and was an avid supporter of the Atlanta Braves and Chicago Cubs. Becky also enjoyed NASCAR racing, with Dale Earnhardt being her favorite driver.

She had a special love for birds, especially hummingbirds, and always looked forward to hummingbird season. Becky was outgoing and never met a stranger. She accepted everyone for who they were and never passed judgment.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Virginia Curry, and her brother, David Rummage.

Those left to cherish her memory include her loving children, Gene Readling (Angie) of Olin, N.C., and Star Readling (Tangi) of Charlotte, N.C.; her sisters, Jo Carol Joyner of Mooresville, N.C., and Alice Fleming (Dickie); her grandchildren, Charlena Christine Readling (Courtney), Christopher Reece Readling (Kelley), and Ashleigh Kathrine Osburn; her step-up granddaughter, Joy ‘Riah Johnson; and her great-grandchildren, Mary Kay Cyrus Copfer, Kiara Ann Rose Copfer, Dominic Hunter Orsburn, Elliana Renea Readling, and Noah Jeb Roit Turner.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 27, from 4 until 6 p.m. at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home & Crematory.
