Rhoda Marie McDowell Lewis, 69, passed away at Novant Health in Salisbury, N.C., on May 15, 2026. She was born in Iredell County on April 19, 1957, and was the daughter of the late Robert Lewis Gibbs Sr. and Gloria Costella McDowell Thompson. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a son, Andre’ Campbell, and a brother, Lamar Dixon.

Dodie, as she was affectionately called, attended Statesville High School, and was a faithful member of Christian Outreach of the Piedmont.

She leaves to cherish the memory of her life her children, Keisha Campbell of Concord and Travis (Paula) Campbell; her grandchildren, Tamya Poston, Chloe Stewart, Trinity Moss, Tyrez Moss, Kyla Moss, Travis Campbell II, Khemari Minor, Kemone Campbell Phillips, and Tne Rose; her siblings: Gloria “Annette” Moore, Jeffrey McDowell, Sharon McDowell, Nelson (April) Dixon, Robert Gibbs Jr., Kimberly Moten, Klydette (Frazier) Lowery, Kathy (James) Gaither, Chris (Rachel) Gibbs, Karen Gibbs, Kelly Gibbs, and Ronnette Propst; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Celebration of Life Services will be conducted Saturday, May 23, 2026, at Christian Outreach of the Piedmont. Bishop Glenn J. Usry, Pastor, will officiate. Mrs. Lewis will remain at Rutledge & Bigham Funeral Home until taken to the church to lie in state at 10:30 a.m. Members of the family will receive friends at the church from 11 a.m. until 12 noon, but will assemble at the residence, 2919 Wexford Way, Statesville, NC 28625, at other times. Days and Hours for Visitation at the residence are Sunday, May 17, 2-7 p.m.; and Monday, May 18 – through Friday, May 22, 4-7 p.m.

The Family respectfully requests that everyone adhere to the specified visitation hours.

Food, flowers, cards and assistance are appreciated, but not required.
