The Iredell County Health Department reported 49 new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday, increasing the number of laboratory confirmed cases in the county to 1,251.

Thirty-one people who have tested positive for the novel coronavirus are now hospitalized in Iredell, establishing a new record for hospitalizations in the county since the pandemic began.

Another 420 people are isolating at home after testing positive, health officials reported.

Meanwhile, 739 people are presumed to have recovered.

Infection Rates

According to the N.C. Department of Health & Human Services, Iredell’s infection rate is among the lowest in the region:

Alexander: 52 cases per 10,000 residents
Davie: 61 cases per 10,000 residents
Iredell: 69 cases per 10,000 residents
Catawba: 86 cases per 10,000 residents
Wilkes: 93 cases per 10,000 residents
Yadkin: 105 cases per 10,000 residents
Rowan: 114 cases per 10,000 residents
Mecklenburg: 150 cases per 10,000 residents

NCDHSS reports that 93,426 people have now tested positive for COVID-19 across the state. Some 1,134 people are hospitalized in North Carolina, and 1,588 deaths have been attributed to the coronavirus.

Geographic Dispersal of COVID-19 Cases in Iredell

According to health officials, 465 people have tested positive for COVID-19 in the southern end of the county, 498 in the central region and 288 in the northern end.
