Mirroring a startling statewide trend, Iredell health officials reported a record number of single-day COVID-19 infections on Monday, along with five more deaths attributed to the novel coronavirus.

With the latest deaths, 77 people in Iredell have now died after testing positive for COVID-19. The Iredell County Health Department does not release personal information about COVID-19 patients, including those who pass away.

Iredell health officials reported 180 new laboratory confirmed cases of COVID-19 on Monday afternoon, increasing the county’s total since the onset of the pandemic to 6,404 cases.

A record 56 people who have tested positive are now hospitalized across the county, and another  1,102 people who have been infected are isolating at home.

Some 5,169 people in Iredell who have tested positive are now presumed recovered, although some of them may develop long-term health problems.

Statewide Numbers also Rising

According to the N.C. Department of Health & Human Services, there have now been 399,362 laboratory confirmed cases of COVID-19 across the state.

Some 5,560 deaths in North Carolina have been attributed to COVID-19, and 2,240 who have tested positive are hospitalized across the state.
