An Iredell County Sheriff’s Office investigation into the sale of crack cocaine in the area of Garfield and Fall streets culminated with the arrest of a Statesville man.

Rick Lee Mayfield

Sheriff Darren Campbell announced the arrest of Rick Lee Mayfield, 27, of Falls Street, Statesville, in a news release Tuesday.

On Friday, February 14, ICSO narcotics investigators and deputies assigned to the Warrant Squad executed a search warrant at Mayfield’s residence, Campbell said. The drug raid followed an undercover investigation, according to the news release.

After receiving information that an individual — later identified as Mayfield — was selling crack cocaine in that area, investigators conducted surveillance operations and then purchased crack directly from Mayfield at the residence, Campbell said.

During the drug raid, ICSO personnel seized crack cocaine and marijuana, along with evidence consistent with the sale and distribution of controlled substances, according to the news release.

Mayfield was arrested and transported to the Iredell County Detention Center, where he was charged with felony possession with intent to sell or deliver a schedule II controlled substance, felony possession with intent to sell or deliver a schedule VI controlled substance, and felony maintaining a dwelling to sell or use controlled substances.

Magistrate Sanders issued a $15,000 secured bond.
