FROM STAFF REPORTS

The Iredell County Board of Commissioners meeting scheduled for Tuesday has been cancelled while two commissioners recover from COVID-19 and another is sick.

Chairman James Mallory and Commissioner Gene Houpe tested positive for COVID-19 recently, and Commissioner Marvin Norman has been sick for some time.

With three of the five commissioners out, the board doesn’t have the minimum number of members required to conduct business.

The board was scheduled to approve several major items, including appropriating ARP enabled fund balance to fund a loan program for fire and rescue departments and selecting Stewart Engineering as the architect for Jennings Park Design.

The board will address these agenda items and more at their next meeting, which is scheduled for Tuesday, September 6.
