FROM STAFF REPORTS

The Mooresville Graded School District Board of Education has taken a couple of steps to help MGSD families deal with inflation during the upcoming school year:

♦ First, the district will continue to waive the $50 laptop usage fee for the 2022-2023 school year.

♦ Second, the MGSD board opted to maintain the cost of school meals for the 2022-2023 school year.

2022-2023 Meal Prices

The federal government provided funding so MGSD and other districts could provide meals for all children during the COVID-19 pandemic. That program ended on June 30. As a result, MGSD will resume charging for meals for the 2022 – 2023 school year, unless a family has filled out the Free and Reduced Meal Price Application and their child qualifies. These applications help your child with other eligibilities, as well as help support our district. MGSD’s Free and Reduced Meal Price Application is now available online. Click HERE to apply. (If you need this application in Spanish, there is a drop-down menu at the top of the webpage allowing you to choose between English and Spanish.)

“We understand that meal costs may create a financial burden for some of our families, and our district has worked diligently to contain school meal prices as much as possible for our families,” MGSD officials said. “We are fortunate and pleased to announce that we will be able to go into the 2022-2023 school year holding our school meal prices at the same price they have been since 2013.”
