Here are some news and notes about happenings throughout Iredell-Statesville Schools:

EnergyUnited partners with Union Grove Elementary to make learning Pop

Students at Union Grove Elementary are honing their typing skills with their new “bubble popper keyboards” this month. The keyboards, which were purchased through an EnergyUnited grant, make learning to type fun. Pictured are Heidi (in pink jacket) and Wyatt (in yellow jacket).

Union Grove purchased a total of 25 bubble keyboards after being awarded $410 from EnergyUnited.

“Technology is used every day,” Principal Keeley Ward said. “These keyboards allow students to type more efficiently and learn where the letters are on the keyboard. If you have young children or grandchildren, you know that fidget toys are all the rage.

Some benefits of fidget toys are to increase focus, decrease stress, enhance creativity, focus attention, and alleviate anxiety, according to Ward.
