Iredell County Sheriff Darren Campbell announced the arrest of Jack Ronald Evans, who lives off Deerchase Circle in eastern Iredell County, in a news release Wednesday morning.

The ICSO began investigating on July 8 after receiving a report that Evans has inappropriately touched two girls, ages 11 and 14, on July 5, Campbell said.

The investigation was assigned to Special Victims Unit Detective J. Welborn, who conducted interviews with several witnesses and the suspect, according to the news release. The two girls were interviewed at the Dove House Children’s Advocacy Center in Statesville.

On Monday, September 12, Deputy K. Robbins, who is assigned to the ICSO Warrant Squad, placed Evans under arrest. He was charged with statutory sex offense of a child under age 15 and two counts of indecent liberties with a child.

Evans was taken before Magistrate Callejas at the Iredell County Detention Center, where he was issued a $250,000 secured bond.
