The General Federation of Women’s Club of North Carolina Statesville Woman’s Club recently shared proceeds from the “Blooms for a Cause” Annual Geranium Sale with N.B. Mills Elementary School and The Kindness Closet.

N.B. Mills will use the funds for its Treasure Box Incentive Program, a school-wide behavior expectation process for the upcoming year, using Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports. The idea behind it is to teach and support all students in making positive behavior choices and reinforcing those choices with a token economy. Students earn individual points, and points are traded in for rewards. There will be a “Treasure Box” for each of the 25 classrooms. The School Leadership Team is responsible for this program.

The Kindness Closet is a 501(c)3 organization based in Mooresville that “is committed to lessening the financial strain of those having a hard time making ends meet by providing household and hygiene items not covered by government assistance.” The organization recently provided a cart to Third Creek Middle School and has plans to branch out to Statesville Middle School and Statesville High School.
