Theatre Statesville will present a local production of “The Secret Garden” next month with shows planned for June 9-12 and June 16-19.

All performances will be held at Cornerstone Christian Academy, located at 650 Glover Street in Statesville. All shows begin at 7:30 p.m., except for a pair of 3 p.m. matinees on June 12 and June 19.

“The Secret Garden” is a musical about hope, renewal, and never giving up on ourselves, on those we love, and the dreams we hold in our hearts.

Based on the classic children’s novel by Frances Hodgson Burnett, “The Secret Garden” is a story about Mary Lennox, an 11-year-old who is orphaned in India and returns to Yorkshire to live with her embittered, reclusive uncle Archibald and his disabled son Colin. The estate’s many wonders include a secret garden which beckons the children with haunting melodies, and the spirits from Mary’s past who guide her through her new life.
