An Iredell County Sheriff’s Office investigation into illegal drug activity at a residence in Harmony culminated with the arrest of three suspects.

Sheriff Darren Campbell announced the arrests of Darlene Sherrill Campbell, 61, of Gaither Park Drive Harmony; Lenzell Boddie Jr., 65, of West McNeely Avenue, Mooresville; and John Fitzgerald Smyre, 56, of Eagle Mills Road, Hamptonville, in a news release Friday. 

The ICSO began investigating after receiving complaints about drug activity occurring at 123 Gaither Park Drive in Harmony, the sheriff said.

Narcotics investigators and Aggressive Criminal Enforcement Team deputies conducted surveillance on the residence, gathered evidence corroborating the complaints and obtained a search warrant for the home, according to the news release.

On Wednesday, ICSO personnel executed the search warrant at 123 Gaither Park Drive. During the search, investigators located and seized crack cocaine, marijuana, a 9mm semiautomatic handgun, various prescription pain medication, and various items of drug paraphernalia consistent with the packaging and sale of illegal drugs, Campbell said.

All three suspects were arrested and taken to the Iredell County Detention Center.

Campbell was charged with Felony Possession with Intent to Sell or Deliver Cocaine, Felony Possession of Cocaine, Felony Possession with Intent to Sell or Deliver Marijuana, Felony Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, and Felony Maintaining a Vehicle or Dwelling for the Sale or Use of a Controlled Substance. Magistrate Hollar issued a $50,000 secured bond.

Boddie was charged with Felony Possession with Intent to Sell or Deliver Cocaine, Felony Possession of Cocaine, Felony Possession with Intent to Sell or Deliver Marijuana, and Felony Maintain a Vehicle or Dwelling for the Sale or Use of a Controlled Substance. Magistrate Hollar who issued a $35,000 secured bond.

Smyre was charged with Felony Possession of Cocaine, Felony Maintaining a Vehicle or Dwelling for the Sale or Use of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Magistrate Thompson issued a $5,000 secured bond.

All three suspects have previous drug charges, according to the ICSO.
