DeVante Milik Clark, 27, of Hiddenite, N.C., passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 20, 2024. He was born January 26, 1997, in Iredell County, the son of the late Robert Maurice Clark and Julie Little Clark of Hiddenite.

DeVante was a loving dad, son, grandson, nephew and friend. He loved spending time with his friends and family, playing video games and art. DeVante was an all-around athlete, mainly known for excelling in football. During his high school football career, he was a 1,000-yard rusher in 2013. He continued playing football at Ferrum College in Virginia. During his wrestling career, he placed second in his weight class in the Caitlin Price Memorial Tournament and went to Regionals his junior and senior year. He had many accomplishments, but the biggest was how great of a dad he was.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Maurice Clark; maternal grandmother, Kathy Rector Little; and paternal grandmother and grandfather, Bill Holmes and Laura Mae Clark.

Those left to cherish and honor his memory include his children, Sylas Milik Clark and Emberly Nicole Clark of the home; brother, Tevin Clark; wife Courtney; nephews, Brax and Behr Clark of Taylorsville; sister, Rekeil Clark of Hiddenite; maternal grandfather, Vernon Burpee Little Jr, of Hiddenite; special aunt and uncle, Mark and Amy Hittle; cousins, Mikayla Maguire of Hiddenite; and a number of aunts, uncles and friends. Also surviving are childhood friends, Damon Sharpe (Destiny), Luke Sharpe, Cody Blankenship (Shatana), Sam Powers, Brandon Bolick, and Hunter Holstein.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, March 23, 2024, at 3 p.m. at Chapman Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Eddie Jolly and Rev. Wesley Hammer officiating. Family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow at a later date.
