Cub Scout Pack #173 in Mt. Mourne recently held its annual Cub Scout Olympics at Fair View United Methodist Church. The Cub Scouts participated by age group in eight events, including softball throw, broomstick throw, push-ups, sit-ups, 50-yard dash, running long jump, standing long jump and football kick. Ribbons were given to the first-, second- and third-place finishers in each event for each age group.
Medal Winners
♦ 5 & 6-Year-Olds: Nash Fortier (gold)
♦ 7 & 8-Year-Olds: Maverick Gudgeon (gold), Stella Springs (silver) and Will Johns (bronze)
♦ 9-Year-Olds: Maya Mathers (gold)
♦ 10 & 11 Year-Olds: Jace Fortier (gold), Emma Borup (silver) and Vera Springs (bronze)
All Scouts participating in the Olympics were presented an “I Did My Best” ribbon.
Scouts and leaders from BSA Troops #173 and #4173 in Mt. Mourne did the official scoring.
Gold medal winners advanced on to the Gemstone District Cub Scout Olympics at West Iredell High School, where they will compete against gold medal winners from other Cub Scout Packs throughout Iredell County.
