The Statesville Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred at a residence on East Bell Street on Saturday morning.

Officers were dispatched to the 200 block of East Bell Street about 11:30 a.m. in response to a report of a possible home invasion that resulted in an individual being shot, according to an SPD news release. When officers arrived on the scene, they found Trevor Miguel Roman, 24, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, police said. Officers rendered first aid until Iredell County EMS personnel arrived on scene.

Roman later died from his injuries, according to the news release.

The SPD’s Criminal Investigations Division responded and initiated an active investigation. The individual responsible for the shooting has been identified, police said, and there is no threat to the community.
