The Troutman Police Department announced the arrest of Tiffany Ann Carroll, 29, of Winecoff Street, Troutman, in a new release.

The TPD Criminal Investigation Unit opened an investigation on May 5 after receiving a report of a possible theft by an employee.

During the investigation, detectives determined that Carroll had been stealing scratch-off lottery tickets from the business beginning in late April while she was employed there, police said. Carroll used winnings from the stolen tickets to obtain cash and purchase additional lottery tickets, police said.

As a result of the investigation, Carroll was arrested on May 6 and charged with five counts of Larceny by Employee and 36 counts of Obtaining Property by False Pretenses.

Carroll was taken before a magistrate, where she was given a $100,000 secured bond. She is being held in the Iredell County Detention Center.
