David Deselem, 71, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away on Thursday, March 19, 2020, at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center.

He was born on August 20, 1948 in Springfield, Ohio, to the late Robert and Anna Rumpke Deselem. After retiring from Lee County, Fla., as a building inspector, he moved to North Carolina. He enjoyed the outdoors, boating, camping, racing, and loved playing music. He owned a scuba instructor business for many years. He was also a truck driver instructor during his retirement.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Roberta Adams.

He is survived by his wife, Julie McHugh Deselem; children, David Jr., Jenna, Dylan, and Anna; and numerous cousins and other family members.

A private service will be held.

The family would like to give a special thank you to cousin Cherie for all the help she has provided to the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that people consider a donation to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in David’s name.
