Lois Shoemaker Moose Gibson, age 90, passed away on Monday, December 14, 2020, from a long bout with Alzheimer’s disease. She was born November 13, 1930, in Alexander County to John and Josie Baity.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, William Shoemaker, Tommy Moose and Robert Gibson; a son, Albert Lee Shoemaker; sisters, Dora Bell Baity, Zula Campbell, Emelyne Motes and Mary Poole Proctor; brothers, William, Free and Virgil Baity; granddaughter, Lisa Jordan Ashley; and grandson, Kevin Shoemaker.

She loved her family and her church, Fairview Baptist Church, where she was very active until her health declined. She loved activities with her Sunday School class (The Ruth Class). Lois faithfully read her Bible and prayed for family and friends. She enjoyed making pound cakes for events and funerals at her church. She was eager to cook food and take to families who were hurting or sick. She loved working in her flower beds and garden, playing rook, cooking for her family and traveling when opportunities arose.

Our beautiful mom, grandma and great-grandma will be dearly missed. She is survived by daughter-in-law, Kat Shoemaker; daughters: Brenda Keller (Michael), Alice Jordan, Debbie Prevette (Douglas), and Cindy Welborn (Timmy); grandchildren, Sabrina Crane (Matt), Gwen Lewis (Don), John Jordan (Corrie), Aaron Prevette (Jessica), Joshua Prevette (Teagen), Shana Welborn, Betsy Elledge (Bryan), and Timothy Welborn. She is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren.

The family wishes to give a special thank you to Ruth, her roommate and friend at Autumn Care.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 19, at Fairview Baptist Church, beginning at 11 a.m., with Dr. Scott Eanes officiating. She will lie in state for one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow the service at Iredell Memorial Gardens.
