Stella Clarice Kerley Combs, 98, of Stony Point, N.C., passed away Tuesday, November 3, 2020, at Valley Nursing Center. She was born Friday, December 30, 1921, in Alexander County to the late Raleigh Virgil Kerley and Ada Arabell Chapman Kerley. Stella was of the Methodist faith and was famous for her big delicious poundcakes.

In addition to her parents, Stella was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Leon Combs; four sisters, Lena K. Icenhour, Blanche K. Smith Burgess, Bonnie K. Jolley and Bobbie K. Teague; and two infant brothers.

Stella is survived by one sister, Frances K. Chapman; two nieces, June Ann Corren and Gloria Sprinkle and husband Gary; three nephews, Raymond Kerley and wife Joanne, Jim Smith and wife Peggy, and Pete Burgess and wife Pam, and a number of great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews.

A Graveside Service will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 5, 2020, at Taylorsville City Cemetery. There will be no formal visitation.
