Mr. Darrius Richard Burton, who was affectionately called “Big Twin,” 56, of 1313 School Street, Statesville, N.C., was born in Iredell County on February 8, 1965, and was the son of the late James Richard Buron and Mary Carolyn Springs Burton. He departed this life on Sunday, February 28, 2021, at his home following an extended illness.

He attended Statesville City Schools and was a loving brother, uncle and friend. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Ann Elizabeth Burton.

He leaves to cherish the memory of his life his twin brother, Darren Douglas Burton, also known as “Baby Twin,” of Statesville; two sisters, Michelle Boller of Charlotte and Tamara (Rodgeria) Connor of Mooresville; his special friend, Karen Neils of Statesville; a host of nieces and nephews, Anika Burton, Nakia Campbell, Darrin Brice, Darris Brice, Timmany Ranga, Kalyn Boller, Tevan Mattox and Jamik Stockton; and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.

Celebration of Life Services will be conducted Saturday, March 6, 2021, at 1 p.m. at Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home. Reverend Kevin Little will officiate.

There will be no public visitation due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home, along with other funeral homes across the country, has been issued a mandate to limit the number of family and/or friends at funeral services.
