Mrs. Gladys Linney Campbell, 93, of 1583 West Cloaninger Avenue, Statesville, N.C., passed away at the Gordon Hospice House in Statesville on Tuesday, November 9, 2021. She was born on November 7, 1928, in Hiddenite, N.C., and was the daughter of Osborne Linney and Malte Smith Linney. She was married to Thurby L. Campbell, who preceded her in death. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Campbell; her sisters, Lois Alexander, Lessie Miller, Faye Pemberton and Mildred Linney; and brothers, Clemont Linney, Fred Linney and Jimmy Linney.

She attended Happy Plains High School in Hiddenite and was a member of First Baptist Church.

She leaves to cherish the memory of her life her sons, Donnie (Sharon) Campbell, Anthony Campbell, Warren Campbell and Kevin (Michelle) Campbell; her sister, Purney Gray; her sister-in-law, Eva Campbell; her brother-in-law, Robert (Yvonne) Campbell; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, The First Baptist Church Family and friends.

Celebration of Life Services will be conducted Sunday, November 14, 2021, at 1:30 p.m. at The First Baptist Church. Rev. J. W. Bruson, Pastor, will officiate and Rev. Dr. Gregory K. Moss will eulogize. Mrs. Campbell will remain at Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home until taken to the church at 12:30 p.m. to lie in state. Members of the family will receive friends at the church from 1 until 1:30 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Iredell Memorial Park.
