Mrs. Joann Turner McClelland, 83, of 167 Buckhead Road, Harmony, N.C., was born in Iredell County on August 3, 1938, and was the daughter of the late Walter Clifton Turner and Estelle Campbell Turner. She departed this life on Sunday, November 7, 2021, at Iredell Memorial Hospital following an extended illness.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie William McClelland; siblings, Augusta Murdock, Walter Turner, R.J. Turner, Robert L. Turner, Lewis Turner, Richard Turner, Odessa Turner, Pearle Peete, Mildred Peet, and Ozelle Turner Campbell; a godchild, Stanley “Butch” Campbell; two grandsons, Marlon Shandray Smith and Jarvis Garner; and one great great grandchild, Zayne Anjraez Davis.

She was a high school graduate and attended Mitchell Community College, where she became a Certified Nurses Assistant. She retired from Clark Equipment Company and was a member of Mt. Nebo Baptist Church.

She leaves to cherish the memory of her life her children Shelby M. (Wesley) Davis of Statesville, Patricia McClelland, William McClelland and Fredrick G. McClelland, all of Harmony, and Terry W. (Dr. Terry Badey-McClelland) McClelland of Statesville; one sister, Lillie Mae Turner Holmes of Harmony; three sisters-in-law, Virginia McClelland of Statesville, Barbara Turner of New Bern and Connie Turner of Wilkesboro; godchildren, Nanette Campbell of Statesville and Robert Campbell of Harmony; grandchildren, Tyrone (Cindy) Davis of Durham, Talya Davis of Raleigh, Lonika Badey of Charlotte, Sharondra “Ronnie” Badey of Salisbury, Sherika “Ricca” (Timothy) Barber of Olin, Terry McClelland Jr. of Fayetteville, Anthony (Carla) White, Torey McClelland, Amanda McClelland and Alexis Brown, all of Statesville, Kala Hall (Craig) Brown of Durham, Cylvia McMillian of Harmony, Marsha Brown of Appalochia, Va., and Kadeya Howard of Statesville; twenty-three great grandchildren; six great great grandchildren; her caregiver, Anthony McClelland of Harmony; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Celebration of Life Services will be conducted Saturday, November 13, 2021, at 11 a.m. at Mt. Nebo Baptist Church Cemetery.
