John Mack Morrow, 71, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away on Tuesday, February 9, 2021. He was born on October 24, 1949, in Mooresville to the late Onlan and Helen Surratt Morrow.

He lettered in football, track and wrestling at South Iredell High School. He worked for the Iredell-Statesville Schools System for over 20 years. This past year he was inducted into the South Iredell Athletic Hall of fame. He was an Eagle Scout, he served as a Boy Scout leader, and worked in the summer tutoring children who needed help. He wrote a column for the Mooresville Tribune, and led march of the graduates the last year he worked for the school system. Despite his limitations from an accident in his teens, he lived a life that included a lot of service to others. Johnny did not have many opportunities in life; he made opportunities for himself. He loved God and served in his church at one time as deacon and an elder.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Penny Gail Morrow.

He is survived by his wife, Jean Mills Morrow; children; grandchildren; and sister, Dr. Deana Morrow (Frankie Tack).

Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Thursday, February 11, 2021, at Centre Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dr. Robert Howard officiating. Burial immediately following the service at the church cemetery. Due to Covid, masks are required.
