It is with great sadness that the family of Sylvia Beasley Harlow announces her passing at the age of 69. She was at home surrounded by her family as she peacefully went to be with Jesus on January 10, 2021.

She was born April 19, 1951 in Virginia Beach, Va. Her parents were the late Charles and Hattie Beasley. She married her best friend and love of her life, John Harlow, on  November 12, 1966.

Sylvia worked various jobs throughout her lifetime, but her favorite role in life was that of a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was the happiest when she was surrounded by her family. Her family meant everything to her.

Sylvia’s life was a living example of love. Ephesians 4:32 – “And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ.” If you knew her, you loved her. She welcomed everyone and loved everyone.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Odell Beasley; and sisters Marlene Lightle, Marcia Williams and Gloria Sethman.

She is survived by her adoring husband of 54 years, John Harlow; daughters Kristine Drake (Johnny) and Angie Roedel; a special niece, Ashley Atkins (Jeremy); grandchildren Aaron Drake, Hannah Drake, Chance Roedel, Emma Roedel, and Ally Roedel; bonus grandchild, Kolton Atkins; brother Robert Beasley (Susie); sisters-in-law, Gloria Stellwag and Carol Ann Holden (Charles); and numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved very much and was fondly known as Aunt Teeny to them.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 17, from 2 to 3 p.m. with a small celebration of life service at 3 p.m. at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home in Mooresville NC. For those who are unable to attend the service, you may go to the following link for the live stream:
